Chopped Liver River Band
Chopped Liver River Band
The Chopped Liver River Band was formed in the late 1990’s by a group of Chavrai Zamir members who, in addition to singing, find their passion for Jewish music in various other instruments.
In 1999, Alan Levine joined the group and under his direction, it has grown to be one of the most requested Klezmer bands in Lancaster County. The band membership is composed entirely of congregants, and Shaarai Shomayim is very proud to have them represent the Temple in and around the community.
The Chopped Liver River Band plays a variety of Jewish music which includes Klezmer music, Yiddish songs, Jewish show tunes, big band, light jazz, and comedy. The band has performed all over Lancaster and the surrounding communities, including venues such as the Fulton Opera House, Longwood Gardens, the Harrisburg Arts Festival, and Lancaster Fest.
In 2005, the band produced it’s first CD, ‘A Shmear of Chopped Liver’. Contact the Temple Office to purchase your copy.
