Chavrai Zamir, our congregational choir, was founded in 1990 by Jane Sandhaus-Packer and Jeff Packer with the goal of increasing congregational singing during services. From 1993 through June of 2006, under the direction of Debbie Mudrick, the choir's role grew from providing a few songs at an occasional service to one of the primary leaders of ritual music at Shaarai Shomayim. Today, Chavrai Zamir sings for all Bar/Bat Mitzvah services, family services, Sisterhood Shabbat, Confirmation, and other special events. In addition, they rock the house with their ever-popular "Friday Night Live" and "Pop Shabbat" contemporary services each year.
Chavrai Zamir has also performed at the Miller Music Festival, the Lancaster Jewish Community Center, and at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, where they sang at the Garden's first Chanukah program as part of their renowned holiday concert series.
Chavrai Zamir is currently under the direction of our Cantorial Soloist, Sara Eiser. For more information, please contact her directly.
